PRAGATI SANSTHAN is established with the promise towards the weaker section to elevate & project their status by providing them adequate service & support for education, employment, public assistance, health, nutrition etc. continues to be the primary consideration. Our objective has been the reduction in the incidence of poverty, providing better opportunities for self-development & to bring about increased participation of vulnerable group in particular in the development process.

PRAGATI SANSTHAN has a commitment & sensitivity about the social responsibilities in respect of development & welfare & special categories like SC's, ST's OBC's minorities, handicapped the elderly peoples, street children and the less privileged section to provide the diagnostics, therapeutic rehabilitation follow up service for all above mentioned groups through network or Programme & activities.

To undertake social and economical activities for rehabilitation & resettlement of the affected people that would include new Housing, Infrastructure, Economics Rehabilitation, social Rehabilitation and other related programme.

To prepare programmes and plans to mitigate the losses on account of disasters as a strategy for long terms disaster preparedness.

To undertake research and study regarding causes for losses on account of natural disaster and to suggest remedial measures for minimizing the same.

To obtain funds for rehabilitation and resettlement and to ensure optimum utilization of these funds obtained in the form of grant, aid, assistance or loan from Government of Gujarat, Government of India, World Bank and ADB, USAID, DFID, IFRC, and donors, NGOs, and from financial institutions, Public and private trusts or any To develop approach, philosophy, policy guidelines and action plan and other relevance aspects for meeting out disaster of any kind; PRAGATI SANSTHAN’s mission is to make real the idea of society consisting of free and equal citizens who are able to come together and solve the problems that affect them in their particular contexts.

The commitment is to work for a paradigm of development and governance that is democratic and oligarchic. PRAGATI SANSTHAN seeks to institutionalize the idea that development and governance is not only to be carried out by the State and its formal bodies like the legislature and the bureaucracy but should engage citizens and their associations separately and jointly with the State. The mission briefly to construct the conditions in which citizens of plural backgrounds and perspectives can come together and deliberate on how they can work to benefit and empower the least advantaged in society.

More than ever, our members are ready to face the winds of change. They know that they must organize to build their own strength and to meet challenges. There are still millions of women who remain in poverty and are exploited, despite their long hours of hard labour. They bear the brunt of the changes in our country and must be brought into the mainstream, so as to avail of the new opportunities that are developing with regard to employment.

Also there is much to be done in terms of strengthening women’s leadership, their confidence, their bargaining power within and outside their homes and their representation in policy-making and decision-making for a. It is their issues, their priorities and needs which should guide and mould the development process in our country. Toward this end, PRAGATI SANSTHAN has been supporting its members in capacity-building and in developing their own economic organizations.
